He just started out as an author in 2024, but already delivered a steamy read which is definitely worth a deeper look.

What motivated you to become an author?
I read a lot of gay fiction and I didn’t relate to a lot of it. Some of it was beautifully written but only ever about pain and suffering. I started writing one or two stories on forums and found that I enjoyed it a lot, and especially enjoyed writing about sex-positive and free thinking characters.
Was there a defining moment when you knew that you wanted to become a published author?
Not really! I started to get a positive reaction from some readers and I gradually explored it more from there.
What was the most difficult part of becoming an author?
Self-publishing. To get noticed, you have to knock on as many doors as you can and then hope that a few of them open for you: a social media influencer here; a prominent Goodreads reviewer there. I think I’ve spent more time promoting the book than writing it.
What keeps you motivated to push forward each day as an author?
Bad reviews can also be a bit trickier when self-publishing as you probably directly encouraged the reviewer to review it in the first place.
But most of the reviews that have made criticisms have been done very fairly. You learn to read them and think “yes, very valid point” and learn from it for your next book.
Do you have a favorite author or book which deeply inspired you as a person and as an author?
Claire Keegan’s writing is beautiful. I wish I could write about the mundane as poetically as she does.
Lie With Me inspired some of my writing more recently. Besson writes about sadness in a way that makes me feel less sad.
You specialized in the genre of Gay Erotic Romance. Why do you write in this genre, where does your fascination for Gay Romance come from?
I grew up in the 1990s and 2000s. During that time, much of the cultural representation of gay men was in relation to death and pain.
The most common and most lazy writing often showed this pain or death right after their happiest moment in the book / film. It almost reached a point where you knew that if a gay man fell in love, in the next scene he would either die of AIDS or be hit by a bus.
This is a lot better today, although it’s still pervasive in some very popular gay books released in recent years. The progress is that straight audiences now read about gays dying rather than just the LGBTQ+ audiences.
I wanted to write about more positive explorations than that, and I wanted to write stories that were real to me.
Tell us about your latest book!
My latest (and first!) book is called Special Delivery.
Tom is a gay single man working from home. Matt is a straight delivery driver who happens to drop by. The book explores their friendship and intimacy.
What would you say makes your stories special and worth reading? Who just must read one of your books? What do you want to give to your readers with your books?
I want readers to sink into my book and relate to it.
And if they can’t do that, I at least want them to chuckle or smile occasionally, or maybe find the smutty scenes endearing and stimulating.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Are your characters solely based on your imagination or do you inspire yourself by real people or stories?
The characters I think about are usually drawn from some connection I have had, with two or three rewrites of their identity.
I’m currently working on a story which for the first time involves characters with which I have had no personal connection. We’ll see how that works out…
